Early years and the beginning of marriage

She was born and raised in a home sustained by her mother, a strong but lonely figure. At 19, hoping to build the family she always dreamed of, she got married. From her first day of marriage, things were different for her, and the image of her ideal home was shattered by subjugation, isolation, loneliness, threats, jealousy, mistreatment, and demeaning words from her now life partner. Aware that all this was far from what she longed for in a marriage, just two months after her wedding day, she decided to end the relationship. But upon discovering she was pregnant, she chose to return so her child could have a father figure—the one she never had. This decision marked the beginning of a cycle of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse.

While pregnant, she suffered the first physical abuse from her husband—a violence she internally justified by believing her husband was hurt by "bad experiences with previous partners," trusting that her love would eventually heal him. However, the blows hurt as much as the demeaning words that daily eroded her self-esteem and will to live.

The struggle to survive

During her marriage, Cynthia had four children who brought love and purpose to her life, but the void from her husband's lack of love and support remained. Isolated from the world and with her mother as her only confidant, she faced a series of emotional challenges and all types of physical abuse.

After the devastating loss of her mother, "her only friend," and in search of a new beginning, the family moved to the United States. Despite her husband's prohibitions, she decided to work and, in contact with the outside world, discovered that this country offered protection against abuse. Bravely, she informed her husband that if he ever physically abused her again, he would face the consequences, putting an end to his beatings. Cynthia bravely endured the marriage for 22 years—for the love of her children, to give them a home—but each year was marked by sadness and depression under her oppressor, who, although no longer physically abusive, enjoyed humiliating her through economic and psychological violence and other forms of abuse that she did not report, fearing it could lead to the deportation of her children's father.

Years later, she discovered her husband was a bigamist, and therefore, their marriage was not valid. Despite the gravity of this revelation, she chose to forgive him, seeing him on his knees proposing to marry her in the church, hoping that "things would change now."

The awakening of courage

Suffering from depression and anxiety, she experienced a panic attack where she felt she was dying and reflected, "Why do I have to be in a hospital bed for a man who has never loved me and never will? There must be something more in this life for me. I deserve to be happy." With this newfound courage, she began the divorce process, which meant starting economically from scratch and emotionally destroyed. She later realized she had lived with a narcissistic personality, incapable of feeling love and empathy.

A new beginning

Cynthia, though in need, could not afford therapy but found solace in God. She changed her question from "Why me?" to "For what purpose did this happen to me?" This new perspective allowed her to reframe her story and step out of the victim role. “God allowed me to go through this path to help other women get out of situations like mine.”

Cynthia decided to change her “love story without love” to that of a brave survivor, giving new meaning to her life. “I share my story to help other women get out of situations similar to mine,” she mentioned.

Unintentionally, she created a brand dedicated to supporting domestic violence victims and became a recognized voice, giving life to “#Mujer de Valor," a beacon of hope for women across multiple social platforms.

Today, she is a leader who shares her story at conferences and motivational talks. She collaborates with various organizations and offers support to victims of narcissistic relationships. Her message of self-love, resilience, and transforming pain into power has impacted many lives.

Cynthia's Legacy

Her greatest dream is to create a non-profit organization supporting women in abusive relationships, providing them with the necessary resources to become independent from their abusers. She wants to offer the help she wished she had, where women receive tools to shine and smile again, free from abuse.

The blessing of a healthy love

Now, she enjoys a healthy and happy relationship, and her current partner supports her life mission. Her story is a legacy of courage and self-love, proof that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope and the possibility of a new beginning. Her life reminds us that no woman deserves to endure abuse and that we all deserve to be loved and respected.

You are a woman of courage; there is a future for you, and we will equip you with the necessary tools to shine and smile again as if you had never been broken.” No woman deserves to endure abuse because she lacks the money to escape.
