Can Brushes Reduce Facial Aging?
By: Mario López Delcid
Undoubtedly, no. However, if your brushes are "sick" (dirty), they will never be effective for the health of your face and will accelerate its aging.
Every day, many people use makeup to conceal "flaws" and improve their physical appearance. However, this act hides health risks as the brushes can be contaminated with potentially harmful bacteria such as E. Coli, staphylococcus, and fungi.
Brushes should be carefully washed after each use. Let’s clarify something:
“Cleaning brushes and washing brushes are two completely different things.”
Cleaning brushes is when we use a solution to remove residue at the moment (but this is an incorrect practice). Makeup brushes, whether synthetic or natural, must be washed with a solution like dish soap (synthetic) and shampoo (natural hair). These are the only two solutions to cure your brushes.
Did you know that bacteria start proliferating two hours after using the brushes? In addition to picking up product residue, dirt, grease, sebum, dust, and smoke, brushes are a breeding ground for bacteria.
How to Clean Brushes Correctly
Rinse the brushes with running water (cooler than lukewarm) to remove makeup residue.
Fill a container with cold water and a tablespoon of shampoo (for natural brushes).
Use cold water and dish soap or detergent (for synthetic brushes).
Massage each brush one by one. Press, roll, and squeeze in the palm of your hand.
Squeeze out excess moisture with a clean, dry paper towel.
Place the brushes in an upright position with the bristles facing down. Never dry your brushes with the bristles facing up, as this will cause the water to loosen the glue holding the bristles, leading to bristle loss.
It's always an honor to share my knowledge with you, and I always wish you success!
